About Amelia

Amelia grew up gardening beside her mother in Macon, GA. In Washington, DC, where she has lived and gardened for more than a decade, she embraces the challenges of urban gardening all year round in her NE DC potager.

A potager is a kitchen garden planted with vegetables, fruits, herbs, and flowers, designed to be both useful and ornamental.

Amelia follows research-based gardening practices through the lens of conservationism. She chooses vegetable varieties that are productive for our changing climate and in small spaces.

Amelia has been active in the Washington, DC urban gardening community as a volunteer with Capital Area Food Bank, Washington Youth Garden, DC Greens, UDC CAUSES, and multiple school gardens.
